The Full Story
A warm welcome to everyone. My name is Etresia, a retired lady. My working life consisted of 25 years teaching science to high school students and 16 years in business, selling jazz CDs, and promoting 19 South African jazz bands. Although I was very active during my working life as a promoter for arts, I could not wait for the day I retired so that I could give life to my own creative side.
I moved away from the busy city life and now live on a family-trust farm. High up in the mountains outside the town called Nelspruit (Mbombela). The air is clean, the fountain water is perfect and some wild game roaming around. I call this paradise.
I took the big store on the farm, which was filled with junk, and transformed it into an art and craft studio. I divided the store into six areas: Storage, Paint, Gallery, Museum, Cement, and Plant propagation. I further covered the walls with old rusted tools and objects that were not in use anymore. In the Gallery, you will find photos of Roesemoes.
The word "Roesemoes" is a play on two concepts namely Roesemoes is a collective name for "things that are disorderly" and "Roes" is the Afrikaans name for "Rust".
My idea with the studio is to have a space to let my creativity flow. There are so many things that can be transformed into something else. Nature provides plenty of materials and the unused "old stuff" can be transformed into new so-called works of art. I am not an artist per se but rather call myself a crafter.
My plan for the near future is to offer classes on various topics and also invite others to utilize the space to give their classes. I will also host two exhibitions annually where local artists and crafters can come and display their work.
I intend to offer the following Classes: cement casting, geometric painting, mixing of plants and herbs for health, shifting consciousness, and unique blueprints.
